Emma Watson: Don't woo me with talk of Harry Potter

Alice's cheering news for Attenborough

Almost a decade after she lost three generations of her family in the Indian Ocean tsunami, Alice Holland, the granddaughter of Lord Attenborough, has some heartening news to announce: she is engaged.

The lovely 25-year-old Tatler journalist is to marry Oliver Edwards, who proposed to her on a beach on the Isle of Wight after they begun courting two and a half years ago. She shares a home with the dashing graphic designer in Chelsea.

Oliver was born one day after me, says Alice. So you could say I have got myself a younger man. Her grandparents have already given the union their blessing: Sheila Simms, her grandmother, also married a younger man in "Dickie" Attenborough, who is one year her junior. Alice met Oliver at the wedding of their friends Harry Dawes and Issy Bourne Arton in September 2010.

Last year, when Alices brother, Sam, married Camilla Hook, Pippa Middleton, a close friend of the bride whom she met on a cookery course, attended their wedding in Scotland and delivered a reading.

Alice and Oliver havent yet got around to thinking about their guest list or even a venue but they like the idea of keeping it a "low-key" affair.

Alice's mother, Jane, 49, her sister, Lucy, 15, and her grandmother Audrey, 81, all died in the resort of Khao Lak, in Thailand, when the wave struck on Boxing Day 2004. Alice was the only one in the familys villa to survive, although she was seriously injured.
