Emma Watson's Journey from a Nerd to a Fashion Icon [SLIDESHOW]

When Emma Watson appeared on screen as Hermione Granger, in the "Harry Potter" series of films, she was a cute and smart young girl. Her later avatars uncovered layers of femininity and grace that chronicled her transformation from a nerdy girl to a fashion-conscious young woman.

Watson is now the fashion ambassador for several brands - her favourites include Karl Lagerfeld, Burberry'sChristopher BaileyandWilliam Tempest; more recently though, she has been drifting towards luxury brands like Proenza Schouler and Christopher Kane.

Either way, whether it is a polka dot dress or a vintage number... or a Rodarte, Temperley London or even Chanel frock... the actress carries it off with elegance and always invests a bit of her own youth and peppiness to the outfit. In the Alexander McQueen outfit she wore for a London event, in 2008, for example, she looked quite stunning.

"After her Harry Potter franchise ended, she was straight down the hairdressers to chop off Hermione's trademark fuzzy mane and reinvent herself as a red carpet fashion plate, dripping in the hottest labels. Her petite, model proportions and English rose looks" is what works for her. But apparently the star thinks her fashion sense is quite boring,"the Telegraphreported.

"My problem is that I am a little bit boring. I don't wear designer bags or big sunglasses. When I don't have to play Emma Watson in public, I'd rather not put myself 'out there'. I have to be more careful with my look in my everyday life," Watson said, with more than goodly dose of modesty.

Another indication of just how fashion conscious young Watson is comes from how selective she is about her endorsements.

"I would have never lent my image to a brand if I didn't feel in perfect harmony with it! Lan! cme embo dies everything I like: France, where I was born, quality and stars who I admire for their sincerity and charm, like Julia Roberts or Penelope Cruz. And, most of all, Lancme allowed me to work the way I wanted to. I appreciated that a lot," Watson said when asked why she chose to promote that brand.
