Emma Watson was set to become Britain's next top fashionista, but it seems the recession has had other ideas...

The pretty Harry Potter star's clothing line for ethical label People Tree has completely and utterly failed to sell.

And it seems as if the recession may be to blame.

A source explained to the Daily Mail that, even at slashed prices, the clothes still failed to budge from the shelves:

"Emma was so disappointed... But even at knockdown prices, the clothes were still sitting on the shelves."

Has Emma lost her magic touch?

The gorgeous 21-year-old has decided to ditch the fashion work and, instead, concentrate on her studies at Oxford University instead.

She had originally intended upon building an eco-friendly clothing empire with Italian designer Alberta Ferrett Read but has put the plans on hold:

"Shes also stalled on plans to do more with Ferretti because she doesnt have time."

Emma needn't worry too much; she's already got two new film projects in the pipeline, so we're not going to be forgetting about her anytime soon...
