Harry Potter actress Emma Watson was spotted over the weekend in East London showing off what could be the latest celebrity trend to hit the UK, a shocking pink dog.
The dog had its fur dyed at Groom Dog City. Owner Stuart Simons told The Daily Mail:
Emma has dyed Darcy twice. Pink is our biggest colour, but I do look after another bichon called Casper who comes in for a blue mohican.
Simons said all his dyes are completely "animal friendly" and denied that the treatment was harmful.
He said he expected trade to pick up over the summer as many people want their pet to reflect their national pride.
I expect to get a lot of requests for red, white and blue. And I may be able to do the Olympic circles on poodles.
Emma was criticised by outraged animal owners on twitter who said it was animal cruelty.
The 22-year-old actress did not comment on whether it was cruel or not, but tweeted to say the dog was not hers.
Ayeye. Just to clarify one more time that I don't have a dog. @ is pink because her owner is raising money for breast cancer.
From @EmWatson on Twitter: (about 7 hours ago)The stunt seems to have worked as Darcy, the pink maltipoo, now has her own twitter account with more than 2,000 followers. She is attempting to raise 50,000 for breast cancer research.
When dog groomer Stuart Simons took his own dog Molly, a shocking pink bichon frise, out for a walk, the reaction was mostly positive.
