Emma Watson calls Michelle Williams the 'perfect Marilyn'

Emma Watson said that she was "amazed" by her co-star Michelle Williams' performance in "My Week With Marilyn."

The former "Harry Potter" franchise star said in an interview provided by The Weinstein Company, "I was amazed at how much I saw of Marilyn in her [Williams]." She added, "I trusted but until I really got on set I was like, 'Wow now I really get it, I really, really get it.' She's perfect the Marilyn. I really believe that."

"My Week with Marilyn" is based on the week that British writer Colin Clark worked as Laurence Olivier's assistant while he was filming "The Prince and the Showgirl," which co-starred Marilyn Monroe. The film was show in the United Kingdom in the summer of 1956. British actor Eddie Redmayne plays Clark.

In the film, Williams took on the appearance, speaking voice and recreated several iconic movie scenes from one of Hollywood's most famous leading ladies and sex symbols, Marilyn Monroe, who died in 1962 at age 36. Emma Watson plays Lucy, a girl in the wardrobe department who works on the movie and who is smitten with Clark.

"It was such a page turner," Watson said of the script. "I couldn't put it down, I just wanted to know what happened. You know, quite aside from Lucy's part being a great little part."

"Marilyn Monroe to me is just the most fascinating person and she had the most interesting life, I feel like it's totally untapped," she added.

As for her character, Watson said ! Lucy is "a lot feistier. She's very confident and very quick and very smart."

"It's shot beautifully. It's been made with such thought and consideration and passion and Michele is giving it everything," Watson said.

It was reported in July that the "Harry Potter" actress was going to attend Oxford University in England as part of a study abroad program.

In March, the 21-year-old actress announced on her official website that she was taking time off from her studies at Brown University to focus on her career and promote "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," the final film in the hit fantasy series, which was released on July 15.

"I'm still a student at Brown," The Virginian-Pilot quoted Watson as saying in an interview to promote the new "Harry Potter" movie. "It's just that I'll spend my third year abroad at Oxford. Then I'll return to Brown to complete my last year."

Watson began her studies at Brown in the fall of 2009. She has denied reports that she had been bullied during her time there but said that students often quoted lines from the "Harry Potter" series to her.
