The power couple of last
five years met at Hogwarts

According to Forbes Magazine, they are Hollywood's big-time power couple, their films raking in $4.2 billion (yes, with a "b") from 2007 to 2011.

Except they're not now, nor have they ever been, a real couple.

But the characters played by Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) in the "Harry Potter" movies topped the list of the highest-earning screen couples of the past five years. And it's not like they have nothing to show for it in real life. Watson, courtesy of her $30 million advance for the final two films, was the top-earning actress of 2009.

Behind Ron and Hermione were, not surprisingly, Edward and Bella, the "Twilight" the star- and species-crossed lovers played by Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, with their films bringing in $2.5 billion (and there's still one to go).

Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox came in third for their first two "Transformers" films (missed them, so don't know the characters' names), with $1.5 billion.

The next couple expected to do well at the box office are the pair played by Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson in the adaptations of "The Hunger Games," another series targeted at young adolescents.

Depp's relationship with
partner failing, report says

What had always appeared to be one of Hollywood's more stable relationships between Johnny Depp and long-term partner Vanessa Paradis is falling apart, according to RadarOnline.com.

According to sources, Depp, 48, and Paradis, 39, the mother of his two children, have been arguing constantly.

"People around him are worried about how Johnny is doing because he and Vanessa seem so fractured right now," a source told RadarOnline. "Their relationship is heading toward the end."

The source also said Depp has been "reaching out" to lawyers, which doesn't bode well.

Writers Guild: 'Bridesmaids,'
'Descendants' nominated

Another day, another round of nominations that supposedly shed some light on who and what will be nominated for Oscars when Jan. 24 rolls around.

This time, it's the Writers Guild of America picking the top screenplays.

The adapted screenplay nominees are "The Descendants," "Moneyball," "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," "The Help" and "Hugo."

Original screenplay nominees are "Bridesmaids," "Midnight in Paris," "50/50," "Win Win," and "Young Adult."

Not so fast: Shriver,
Arnold aren't reconciling

The rumors of Maria Shriver considering a reconciliation with Arnold Schwarzenegger gained momentum this week with photos showing the separated couple wearing their wedding rings, which turned out to only be true in one instance.

That was a wedding ring on Schwarzenegger's finger, but the jewelry Shriver was wearing is actually her late mother's engagement ring, something she's worn since Eunice Shriver's death in August 2009.

< p>And if that's not enough to quite the rumors, a source told People magazine that "The reports of a reconciliation are not true."

Rob Lowe at top of list
to replace Regis on TV show

ABC would very much like to make Rob Lowe the replacement for Regis Philbin.

Lowe just finished two days as guest host with Kelly Ripa and ABC, a source told TMZ.com, "loved the chemistry between them."

Lowe refused to comment on the possible job, in part because he currently has one on "Parks and Recreation," but he did admit he's fond of where it's filmed.

"I love New York. I love the energy. It would be a change of pace," he says. "I'm a California boy, but it could be fun."

Gus Van Sant takes over
for Damon as film's director

Now batting for Matt Damon, Gus Van Sant.

Van Sant, the Portland director who helmed "Good Will Hunting," the movie that helped launch Damon's career, is replacing the actor as the director of a still-untitled film that was to be Damon's first on the other side of the camera.

Damon, who also stars in the film (which co-stars John Krasinski), co-wrote it (again, with Krasinski) and is one of the producers (Krasinski is, too), decided he didn't have time to also direct it.
